Almost everything Instead knows about you never leaves your phone, so most deletion is something you do on the device in one step. The one exception is feedback you chose to send, which we can delete on request.
Everything on your phone: uninstall
Your streak, lifetime clean days, the habit you named, journal entries, your saved contact, and every setting live only in the app's own storage. There is no account and no server copy. Uninstalling Instead deletes all of it permanently. We never had a copy, so there is nothing on our side to remove.
Want to keep a copy first? Open Settings → Back up your data before you uninstall. That backup file is yours and is never uploaded.
Feedback you sent us
The only data we receive is what you send through Settings → Send feedback. If you sent something, we hold the message you typed, a random anonymous install ID, and the time you sent it. If you sent feedback through the beta button in an earlier version, we may also hold the screenshot you attached. No name, email, or phone number is attached to any of it.
To have that deleted, email us and we will remove it, including any attached screenshot, from our systems.
Include the approximate date you sent feedback so we can find it. Because the feedback carries no personal identifier, the date is how we locate it.
What we do with a request
- What is deleted: the message text, any screenshot, the install ID, and the timestamp for the feedback you identify.
- How long it takes: we action requests within 30 days, usually much sooner.
- Retention: we keep nothing after deletion. There are no backups of feedback beyond routine, short-lived infrastructure backups that also age out.
